On June 16, CEDAW Rising hosted its Third National Convening, bringing together advocates, government officials, commissioners, scholars and civil society partners from across the United States and around the world to discuss intersectional data collection and analysis in local CEDAW implementation.

We were honored to welcome Esther Eghobamien-Mshelia, Member of the UN CEDAW Committee, who shared reflections on the role of data in identifying disparities, developing action plans and advancing gender justice across all levels of government.

A brief excerpt from Esther’s remarks, in which she explains the critical importance of data in CEDAW implementation and commends San Diego County’s recent Baseline Intersectional Gender Equity Analysis Report, is available below.

Thank you to Esther and to everyone who joined us. We look forward to continuing this work together.
